RICHMOND, VA (November 8, 2009) - The Jefferson Hotel is one of only thirty-seven (37) hotels and resorts in the United States to be awarded both the AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five Star awards for 2010. This is the historic hotel’s 17th consecutive win of the AAA Five Diamond award and the 10th consecutive win of the Forbes Five Star award. “As an independent, historic hotel, we are able to offer travelers a uniquely Richmond travel experience,” says Joseph Longo, The Jefferson’s Managing Director. “These awards validate the service, accommodations and amenities that they can expect, allowing us to provide an exceptional travel value.” The Jefferson was built in 1895 and has 262 rooms and suites, 26,000 square feet of function space and it home to Lemaire Restaurant, TJ’s Restaurant, Blooms at The Jefferson and The Salon at The Jefferson. AAA has been publishing its hotel rankings since 1977. Less than one half of one percent of all properties inspected received the AAA Five Diamond award. When considering a property for a Four or Five Diamond rating, AAA inspectors check in to hotels anonymously. Upon departure, they will announce their identity and present a written summary of the inspection and the rating decision.
