Online Reservations for Afternoon Tea
Please take a moment to read the information below as our procedures and policies have recently changed.
Afternoon Tea reservations at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia must be booked online. Your credit card will be charged at the time of reservation.
Please use this list of helpful tips to assist you in making your reservations:
- Online reservations will open at 8:00am EST exactly 90 days prior for all tea reservations. If you are logged in prior to 8am, you will need to refresh your browser.
- Please have your credit card ready to complete your online booking. Your credit card will be charged for your afternoon tea experience at the time the reservation is made. You have 10 minutes to complete your reservation.
- All of our available tea options will be included in the list. Please scroll down until you find the exact tea reservation that you would like to make, i.e. Holiday Afternoon Tea, Chocolate Lovers’ Tea, etc. for the correct availability calendar to populate. A list of available dates for all of our teas is provided below.
- Start with the total number of guests, including all children, and then select the correct menu for each person.
- Reservations are booked by table. If you and your guest book separately, you will be at separate tables.
- These are timed reservations. Tables of 5 or less have 1.5 hours. Tables of 6 or more have 2 hours.
- Reservation changes can be made via Tock prior to the 7-day reschedule cutoff and based upon availability.
- Tea is not available on Sundays.
- Once all reservations have been filled for a particular day, you will be provided the opportunity to be placed on a waitlist via Tock. Click on the notify button and fill in your contact information.
- Guests requesting reservations for parties of 21 or more must call 804-649-4710 to book.

The Jefferson's Southern Afternoon Tea in Richmond, Virginia is served Friday and Saturday with seatings between 12:00pm and 4:15pm on the Mezzanine balcony overlooking the Rotunda.
Chocolate Lover’s Tea
Southern Afternoon Tea
- Assorted Finger Sandwiches (house made chicken salad on white, cucumber and dill on pumpernickel, sundried tomato and arugula spinach wrap, ham on a buttered white house roll)
- Freshly Baked Scones served with Devonshire Cream and Strawberry Preserves
- A Selection of Pastries and Tea Breads
- Choice of Tea (parties larger than 5 will receive a choice of 2 teas)
- $45.00 plus tax and gratuity, per person
Chocolate Lover’s Tea
- Served every first and third Saturday of each month (see exceptions below).
- Our full tea service above as well as a selection of decadent chocolate desserts.
- $50.00 plus tax and gratuity, per person
Children's Menu
- Available every day that tea is served for children ages 4-8.
- $40.00 plus tax and gratuity, per child for Afternoon Tea
- $45.00 plus tax and gratuity, per child for Chocolate Lover's Tea
- Children ages 3 and under dine at no charge unless a specialty menu is requested. One paying adult per child under 3 please.
Specialty Menus
A gluten free menu is available at an additional charge of $6.00 per person. Specialty menus like nut or dairy free menus are available at an additional charge of $4.00 per person. Please select these options at the time of reservation.
Celebratory Beverages
An afternoon tea cocktail menu as well as a full selection of wines and sparkling wines is available for purchase.
Parking
Complimentary self-parking is available for brunch guests in the Main Street parking lot located between Adams and Jefferson Streets. Please ask the host or your server for a parking validation ticket before leaving the hotel. Valet parking is also available in the hotel's main entrance at 101 W Franklin Street for $18 per car. Rates subject to change and based upon availability.
Parties of 25 or More
We are happy to serve tea Monday through Thursday for parties of 25 or more guests if the space is available. Please call 804-649-4710 for availability.
NEW Cancellation Policy
Full payment is required at the time of booking the reservation. Reservations are refundable up to one week prior to your reservation date. Changes to the number of guests on all reservations must be received seven (7) days prior to your reservation. For groups of 21 or more a contract will be required.
Holiday Tea
Holiday Tea is served beginning Friday, November 28, 2025 - Saturday, January 3, 2026 as well as Valentine's Weekend and Mothers' Day Weekend.
Holiday tea will not be served on Sundays or the following dates: December 4, 6 (for Santa Tea),10, 13,18 (for Santa Tea), Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day.

- Holiday Chocolate Lovers Tea on Friday, November 28th opens at 8am EST on August 31st.
- Holiday Chocolate Lovers Tea on Saturday, November 29th opens at 8am EST on September 1st.
- There is no tea service on Sunday, November 30th.
- Holiday Tea on Monday, December 1st opens at 8am EST on September 3rd
- Holiday Tea on Tuesday, December 2nd opens at 8am EST on September 4th
- Holiday Tea on Wednesday, December 3rd opens at 8am EST on September 5th
- There is no tea service on Thursday, December 4th
- Holiday Chocolate Lovers Tea on Friday, December 5th opens at 8am EST on September 7th
- Santa Tea on Saturday, December 6th is a specialty tea that opens at 8am EST on October 6th
PRICE FOR HOLIDAY TEA
Adults: $60.00
Children 4-8 years: $55.00
Children 3 and under: Free unless a specialty menu is requested.
A 20% gratuity and 13.5% tax will be automatically added to your bill.
PRICE FOR HOLIDAY CHOCOLATE LOVER'S TEA (Every Friday and Saturday during the holiday season as well as Christmas Eve and New Years Eve).
Adults: $65.00
Children 4-8 years: $60.00
Children 3 and under: Free unless a specialty menu is requested.
A 20% gratuity and 13.5% tax will be automatically added to your bill.
Santa Tea will be served on Saturday, December 6, and Thursday, December 18, from 12 pm – 2 pm. Reservations will open online at 8 am on Tuesday, September 30.
PRICING FOR SANTA TEA
Adults and children 4 and older: $85.00
Children 3 and under: $25.00
A gluten-free menu is available at an additional charge of $6.00 per person. Peanut or dairy free menus are also available at an additional charge of $4.00 per person. Please select these menus at the time of booking online.
Reservations for holiday teas will open online at 8:00 am EST exactly 90 days in advance of the reservation date.
Payment and Cancellations
Full payment is required at the time of booking the reservation. Cancellations and changes to the number of guests on all reservations must be received seven (7) days prior to your reservation to receive a refund of your prepayment.
Dress Code
There is no dress code for afternoon tea. Guests are invited to dress as they are most comfortable, but you will find that most of our guests prefer to dress up for the occasion.
